Peter Anderson was born in Boise, Idaho, but spent his childhood from the age of three months old in Hailey, Idaho. In 1985 he began his college education at the University of Idaho, Moscow, the same University his great grandfather attended. Pete started with the intention of becoming an engineer and working as an industrial designer, but discovered that through architecture, he could combine his interests in art and design. In 1991 he graduated from the University of Idaho College of Art and Architecture with a Bachelor of Architecture degree and minor degrees in art and sculpture.

Pete’s summers during college were spent working for Barry Berkus and also Michael Williams, Architect. After graduation, Pete returned to the Wood River Valley and spent the next six years working on residential and commercial projects with Ruscitto/Latham/Blanton, PA., Michael Doty Architects and Floyd Town Architects. During that time, Peter worked as project architect on design, construction documents, and construction administration for over fifteen different residences and several commercial projects in the Wood River Valley including the Hailey Public Library, The Mint, The E. G. Willis building, Moss Garden Center, and Marketron International headquarters.

In 1996, Pete received his license to practice architecture in the state of Idaho. In the spring of 1999 he began his first full time projects. The following spring his wife Kristin Anderson joined him to form their firm Anderson Architecture PA. Their firm has now completed over twenty-five projects including private residences, speculative residences, residential remodels, and commercial tenant improvements.

Pete currently serves on three architectural design review boards—Sun Valley Elkhorn Masters Association, Indian Creek Ranch Association, and Rivers Edge Ranch Association. Pete is an active member of the American Institute of Architects. He is a past President of the Idaho American Institute of Architects, Mountain Section, and has attended AIA professional development tours and seminars in San Francisco, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., and Chicago.

Pete’s interests in architecture came from his natural curiosity of mechanics of structures and enjoyment of sculpture and drawing. With this exploration and innovation, he meets each new project and the opportunities that lie within with clear vision.
